You can save power (Electricity) by following some basic idea. Remember that TV is also power consuming appliance. If you replace your old TV with new technology TV your power consumption will go down drastically. You can enhance the energy-saving by turning off the power frequently and with regular maintenance.
1. Turn off the main switch to save power
Turn the main switch off of your TV if you are not watching it. TV consumes power in standby mode as well. If you reduce your television (32V) watching time by 1 hour a day, approximately 16 to 17 kWh power will be saved annually. Disconnect you power plug when you are on long vacation or when you are traveling or on a official business trip.
2. Save money by switching to a New LED LCD TV
Conventional LCD TV were using fluorescent tuber for the backlight, but new TVs are using LEDs with high luminous efficiency. This newly design TV consume 20% less electricity than the older TV. This new TVs are light weight which is one more advantage
3. Save energy with a TV with a motion sensor
Some TV comes with the presence sensor that automatically turn of the TV image, if on one is in front of the TV. It automatically save the power.
4. Save power by reducing screen brightness
TV consumes more electricity when the brightness is more. You can reduce the excess brightness of the TV to save the power. You can adjust the image quality to energy saving mode which will bring down the power consumption substantially. Keep your TV screen clean to see exact brightness of the TV.
5. Save power by keeping volume down
Electricity (Power) consumption is more if TV volume is at higher level. Adjust the volume to desire level to save on electricity.
6. Save your energy while changing your view to a radio
Some people are habitual to background music while doing housework or reading. They keep the TV on for music. You can turn the Radio on for music. It will allow you to catch latest news and music as well. Radio consume less power than the TV. You can have a radio with chargeable battery. This battery can last for a day if you charge it for couple of hours.
7. Save power with head-mounted display
If you are fond of larger size LCD TV, you can go for head mounted display. 46 inches LCD TV consumes 150W approx. of electricity while head mounted display consumes 15W only.
8. Use timer
All TVs come with on and off timer. Set the on off timer to turn tv on and off automatically which will save electricity drastically.
